Meet Dr. Cook

At Spiritus Chiropractic, Dr. Cook is passionate about meeting client needs. Learn why below.

How It Started

It seems that becoming a chiropractor has always been in the cards for Dr. Kevin Cook. As a middle school student during career exploration, he was amazed to learn that there was an occupation in which he could heal others with a touch of the hand.

While studying to earn his degree, Dr. Cook lost two people who were very close to him. This event showed Dr. Cook why he was drawn to becoming a chiropractor. It showed him just how well the body can heal itself on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual. It just needs a little help sometimes. That is what chiropractors do. Dr. Cook considers it an honor to be involved in this process for others.

Dr. Cook utilizes the principles of Bio-Geometric Integration to help his clients integrate their physical stresses into mental healing and growth.

Outside the office, Dr. Cook can be found riding his motorcycle, hanging out with his “foster” cat, or driving around with his partner, Irina, listening to music.

What is Bio-Geometric Integration?

Subluxations

Bio-Geometric Integration (BGI) is an understanding of chiropractic philosophy, science, and art developed by Sue Brown, DC. In the traditional understanding of chiropractic, the body is exposed to natural destructive forces and stresses. When you are unable to adapt to these forces, your body subluxates. A subluxation is a condition in which the bone is not in its normal position and creates interference in the nervous system.

BGI uses the potential energy theory of subluxation. When you have a new experience, it puts your system into a heightened state of chaos. You can then either integrate the experience and learn/grow in the moment or you can store it in your body as a subluxation and integrate it later at a better/safer time. Under this lens, the subluxation is not a threat but a normal function of the body that has a purpose. It is a tool for you to adapt, learn, grow, and evolve when you are capable.

Adjustments

Why are adjustments important? Adjustments integrate and clear subluxations. Unintegrated subluxations distort the body. In the traditional view, they are altered vertebral positions that interfere with nerve function. Your brain uses nerves to communicate with the body. Utilizing the approach of Bio-Geometric Integration, this model is true but incomplete.

The subluxation is stored throughout the body. When fully released or integrated, the effects can go beyond nerve, muscle, and bone and affect health on any level. Using this approach, we help you function at your best physical, mental, and emotional state.
